Welcome to the website of
Robert Hall Elmore

This website is a tribute to the late Dr. Robert Elmore, a well-loved organist, composer and teacher of the 20th century.

In his day, Dr. Elmore was a key musical figure in the Philadelphia music scene as organist at Holy Trinity Rittenhouse Square, Central Moravian Church in Bethlehem, Tenth Presbyterian Church in Philadelphia, organist for the Philadelphia Orchestra, and as a celebrated organ virtuoso. As a prolific composer, Dr. Elmore wrote hundreds of works for organ, chorus, voice and instruments. Dr. Elmore was also a dedicated teacher and mentor to many talented organ students who went on to become leading figures as performers, teachers, conductors and church musicians.

2013 is the 100th anniversary of Dr. Elmore's birth. In honor of this occasion, a group of Elmore enthusiasts are initiating a project to bring renewed awareness of his music to organists and the general public. They are striving to get more of his music back in print; facilitate performances and workshops; explore the Internet as a way of reaching younger audiences; and promoting his legacy in every way possible.

This web site is a key part of this effort. Additional information will be added on a regular basis, including information on the availability of the printed music as well as a comprehensive list of performances of his works throughout the United States. Please check back often.

You are invited to share in this effort by becoming part of our "Friends of Robert Elmore" email list. You are encouraged to share ideas with us, and to keep us informed of any future performances of Elmore's compositions. We appreciate any suggestions you may have as to how you can help us make this a truly nation-wide celebration of a unique American composer.
